English Upgraded my Toshiba Satelitte C650 from Fedora 15 to Fedora 16 Alpha Switched from Grub to Grub2 as bootloader. Edited video clip using both OpenShot and DVDStyler. English New development release of Gimp 2.7.3 is now available in rpm format for only Fedora 15 and above. This new version requires higher release of babl and gegl which are sadly not found on Fedora 14 and below. Please read the release note . Here is what I did on 2011-08-18 Built a new system with a brand new Antec Tower, AMD Phenom II X4 940, Asus M4N78 Pro Motherboard, 4 x 2GB Corsair DDR2-RAM memory and Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS. Not much a powerhouse but enough for big images and video editing including rendering on Blender 3D (starting to learn modelling). Took care of local business with almost only FOSS applications. English Gimp 2.7.2 is now packaged for testing on only Fedora 15. Unfortunately for Fedora 14 users, this application requires higher release of babl and gegl which will come soon. English I like Fedora 15 beta except for one issue: networkmanager which dhcp does not want to connect at all. Bug is filed. Somehow, Live Media version is not affected. French J'adore Fedora 15 beta sauf un problem: NetworkManager duquel dhcp ne veut pas connecter du tout. Le bogue a été soumis en conséquence. Comme quoi, ce problème n'existe pas sous la version Live Media.

Two years passed with No network on x86-64 saga mainly due to skge inability to work above 4GB RAM support. With the help of kernel team, it turned out the solution was simple. # rmmod skge # modprobe skge dma_bits=32 Where 32 is the max value for 4GB address space. It might be late for people who have already replaced their Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 motherboard but the issue can be finally put to rest.

English I like MgOpen Modata fonts (or typeface). Unfortunately, it does not have accents glyph on its list making useless for French articles. French J'adore la police MgOpen Modata. Malheureusement, elle ne dispose pas d'accents ce qui la rend inutile pour les articles francophones.

À cause du bogue dans le paquet xorg-x11-drv-wacom, Le stylus ne fonctionnait pas sur la tablette (Tablet PC), une mise à jour en utilisant le dépot update-testing a reglé ce problem. En tout, le système est operationnel sans encombre. De plus, la nouvelle version de gnome-shell est tres fluide et utilisable. I decided to revert to Fedora 12 because of the lack of input for stylus for the tablet. I will wait for beta version. ----- J'ai décidé de retourner sur Fedora 12 à cause du manque d'entrée du stylus pour la tablette. J'attendrai la version beta.

Installation was strange as Anaconda backtraced right at the option of checking media. Fortunately, quickly switch to "skip" button seems to not have impact on installation. A welcome change is the home partition inside Logical Volume Management. 4.8 GB is not enough because of my intensive use as designer so I increased it to the maximum after setting root partition to 16 GB. Under the Licenses, coverage is provided and rights are granted for (a) manufacturers to make and sell MPEG-4 Visual/AVC Products and (b) for such MPEG-4 Visual/AVC Products to be used to deliver MPEG-4 Visual/AVC Video content. The Licenses were set up this way so as to apportion the royalty at points in the product/service chain where value is received, and also to not place the full royalty burden on one party in the chain (e.g., an encoder maker). No wonder software patents are such a mess.
